A Sluggish Kind of Day

Slugs are unwholesome creatures. I understand they are an intricate part of the great web of life that covers this planet. They exist and evolved because they were fit in that most magnificent matrix that unites all life. But when I saw all those slugs on the side of the trail, I just felt plain old revulsion. It's an inner struggle between my civilized intellect, which wants to observe and commune with nature, versus my primal instinct, which is screaming, kill it with fire!
There were so many slugs everywhere along the trail, and they seemed to be interested in the dandelions because they were climbing all over them, sometimes two or more at a time. I could've taken many macros of the slug action, but you know, I decided that just a few would suffice.
As it turns out, a little bit of research showed that this slug is an invasive species native to Europe, introduced abroad in 1941. They're prolific and voracious. If you would like to learn more about the slippery details, check out the wikipedia page. For my part, I think I've said all I had to say about this topic.
