Crater of Diamonds State Park

Last Wednesday we hiked one of the scenic trails at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. This was in the afternoon before we headed back to town for a late lunch/early dinner.

Why were we at Crater of Diamonds State Park? To look for diamonds, of course!

While we did find a whole lot of beautiful and colorful rocks. None of them were diamonds. However, the adventure with my mom and sister made the whole experience a gem of a time. Plus a bonus I hadn't considered when planning this trip, was all of the genuinely kind and interesting people we encountered. Folks from all over the country. Of all ages. Some folks were like us, first-timers. Others were seasoned diamond hunters who were generous with their knowledge and had so many stories to tell.

We consider ourselves blessed to have spent a few days with folks sharing stories and having a good time. This trip was a good reminder that the world is filled with kind, warm, and funny people.
