Today I wanted to share some photos of the recently blooming flowers all over the place!

Flowery Monochrome Monday

Springtime is upon us that's for sure! It's a wonderful time of year, seeing the flowers and plants coming back to life after the long slumber of wintertime. It feels weird that it's already May, because this year is already flying by quickly! I guess it's sad that I end up saying that EVERY time lol but it's true! I don't know if it's because being a parent, we are flying around all the time doing things or if it's because of the internet and everything being connected, constantly doing this that or the other. Has it always been this way? Hard to say.. I'll have to ask my dad how quickly he felt it went!

With this springtime, one of the things I am reflecting on was last year. We had a late frost that really messed us up! It killed a lot of the stone and seeded fruits like peaches, grapes and others. With how this year has gone thus far, I'm reaaaaally hoping that we don't have that same thing happen again! We've had a pretty normal spring so far, one that feels like it was one from when I was a kid which is nice. Everything is in cycles for sure, so this is one of them.

The early trees have nearly finished their blooming, with this wonderful magnolia just about done. We seem to have had a lot of wind this year which has removed most of the magnolia leaves which is unfortunate! I was looking forward to walking past the tree here that is along our walking path and smelling the wonderful scent. This year, the scent wasn't very strong but I noticed there weren't a significant amount of flowers. By the time I'm writing this, most of those flower petals have fallen off so it's entirely gone for a scent. I think the smell of these flowers is certainly one of my favorite parts about it! I will have to look to figure out how I can get it as an essential oil or something haha.

Seeing the annuals is also really nice! We've got a few flowers along the route that come in really well. The ones in the foreground here have this wonderful purple color to them but turned into black and white, they look really dramatic and I love it! I think that's one of my favorite elements of black and white photos, how drastic the changes are between the color and black and white versions of the same photograph. Sometimes it's a fairly muted difference but there are things like this where it's incredibly noticeable which is pretty cool!

The crocuses are just about done, and now it's time for the tulips. The different versions of the flowers is nice to watch, seeing the early ones come and go, then the middle ones, with finally the last ones popping up and showing us their beauty.
